Logging into WHM for the first-time

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

You have just purchased a reseller account or a dedicated solution that includes WHM (WebHost Manager) and recieved the login information for the account/sever from your provider, so what do you do now? The first thing you should learn is how to login to the new account or server. Most hosts will give you the link to WHM, but in case you have lost that information here they are (for most configurations:)

Secured SSL connection to WHM *Recommended*:

https://yourdomainhere.com/whm
https://yourdomainhere.com:2087

Regular connection to WHM:

http://yourdomainhere.com/whm
http://yourdomainhere.com:2086

Once you enter one of the above links (replace yourdomainhere.com with your actual domain name) you will see a login prompt pop up (see below.) If your browser does not support such prompts or if you do not wish to use it (press cancel) you will get a form based login.

WHM login prompt
WHM login window.

You should now enter your reseller username and password into the appropriet fields and press ‘OK’. If you get any errors you should contact your provider to ensure your password is correct. If you have a dedicated solution you will usually login as the ‘root’ user to WHM until you create some other accounts. If the login worked you will see WHM open up and you are ready to host!
